About the accommodation

Persåsen lies south of Östersund and offers unique accommodation in association with the Wikner manufacture of wooden home furnishing products that started in 1969. Here you will find exhibitions and sales of both Wikner’s own products and those of other craftsmen.

Enjoy a good night’s sleep at STF Persåsen among the natural beauty of the Storsjö landscape. The surroundings offer a wide range of excursions with both outdoor activities and cultural experiences.

Accommodation
The rooms have been designed and furnished based on classical Swedish wood sorts. Guests stay in timbered 4-bed cabins with a shower, toilet and small self-contained kitchen. Linens are available to rent at reception. To book a final cleaning of the cottage you do it at the reception.

Our restaurant serves lovingly prepared food based on locally produced ingredients. Group bookings are accepted all through the year. Lunch is served every day from 1 June until 29 September. Further, we have an à la carte restaurant service in the evenings during the summer season. Breakfast can be provided if booked in advance.

To see and do
The region is a heaven for ski enthusiasts and jig fishers. It also holds a wealth of possibilities during summer, when the focus on the mountains turns to hiking and cycling. The countryside around Storsjön, Sweden’s fifth biggest lake, is exceptionally beautiful and diverse with a rich cultural heritage. The area from Persåsen and towards the mountains is famous for its fäbodar – traditional pastoral huts. Visit Hoverberget with views to up to 13 churches and which also hides Sweden’s deepest cleft cave, open for visits summer.

In many cases, the accommodation can meet your needs, even though they are only partially compliant with our accessibility standards.

    Travel options
    From Östersund – Via the scenic tourist route over Vallsund- and Sannsund Bridges is only 50 km. Red indication on the map.

    From Trondheim – 240 km via Åre ( after Mattmar take the exit towards Mora road 321).

    From Sundsvall - 220 km via Brunflo and Sannsund bridge.

    From Sollefteå – 210 km via Östersund and the new tourist route “The road along Storsjön” Red indication on the map.

    From the south – Road 45 from Sveg, in Svenstavik take road 321 towards Åre. After approx.. 20 km follow the turnoff sign towards Persåsen.

    From Stockholm - By air from Arlanda to Persåsen takes approximately 2hours. By car the best route is via Ljusdal, Sveg and Svenstavik. See above.

    Flights to Persåsen!
    By air you can easily get from Åre-Östersund airport on Frösön. There are different alternatives for transfer like car hire, air taxi and helicopter. If you need help arranging transfer please contact us.
