More about STF Station Linné
Staying a few nights at Station Linné is the perfect base for experiencing Öland and its fantastic nature. It also gives you an unique opportunity to visit an active and operating research station, where you during breakfast may hear lively discussions between researchers from all over the world. And anyone who has listened to an expert on insects talk about how the genitals of one small insect differ from another cannot help but be fascinated. This, along with the unique location, makes Station Linné a very special place to stay.
Station Linné on Öland is basically a research center established in 1963 by a non-profit organization. Its work aims to contribute to a sustainable future, where all activities aim to benefit biodiversity. Research and education takes place her all year, and researchers and students visit from all over the world. A stated goal is to spread knowledge and interest about the research conducted here. Part of this is the establishment a visitor's center with a shop, exhibitions, lectures and new accommodation with 28 airy and comfortable rooms and large common areas.
The research station is located in the middle of one of Sweden's most species-rich areas - where the lush Mittlandskogen meets the plains of Stora Alvaret - and the hiking trails that start from Station Linné are also by far the most interesting "walking trails” in Sweden. There are also guides tours covering orchids, bats, Alvaret, food walks with Öland flavors and archaeological historical guided tours to "Gamla Skogsby", Öland's largest Iron Age village, a few hundred meters from the station.
At Station Linné you stay comfortably and close to nature. A warm welcome!
