About the accommodation

STF Stensdalen lies in beautiful mountain birch forest by the river Stensån, 800 metres above sea level just below the tree line, in roadless country 13 kilometres west of Vålådalen. The area is part of the Vålådalen Nature Reserve and the Handöldalen Sami village.

There are a total of 34 beds. The large cabin has four four-bed rooms and one six-bed room, and the common area has a cosy corner where the sofas can be used as extra beds. There is also a well-stocked shop (Large selection), a drying room, an unheated entrance porch and a kitchen island with four gas hobs. The middle cabin has two rooms with six wide beds each, with kitchen equipment and gas hobs. Dogs are allowed in both rooms, and one of them is also a safety room. The site also has a host cabin, sauna, woodshed, waste shed, toilet and storeroom.

The emergency phone is in the porch of the middle cabin. If you walk to the waste shed or down to the sauna, you will get reasonable mobile coverage with a Telia subscription. If you have Telenor, you can walk a little way towards Vålåstugorna to get coverage.

STF Stensdalen is located west of Vålådalen and is part of so-called Vålådalsfyrkanten, or “Vålådalen rectangle”. It is easiest to get here via Vålådalen, located about 13 km from Stensdalen.

Car parking is available in Vålådalen. You can also go by train to Undersåker and continue from there by bus. For more information, see valadalen.se/en/
