STF Vålåstugan Mountain cabin

Hiking trails from the cabin go in five directions towards Stensdalen, Helags, Lunndörren and Vålådalen. From here, you can also choose between various types of shorter mountain tours, as well as enjoy rich groups of orchids and other mountain flowers south of the bridge over the Härjång stream.
 
Fishing enthusiasts usually find their way to the small lakes of Krok, and there are traces of stone-age settlements and the remains of pre-historic grave around Lake Vålå.
Copper was quarried on the southern slope of Gruvsmällen for a time during the 1800s, and signs still remain. Smaller water-filled pits and the remains of a mining cabin in stone are found three kilometres west of the cabin.
 
This is how it works in a mountain cabin
Our mountain cabins offer a simple and authentic stay in multi-bedded rooms with self catering. The rooms are different sizes with bunk beds and usually heated by gas stoves. On site you will be greeted by a cabin manager. As a guest you chop wood, fetch water from the stream or lake, wash up and clean up after youself.
