About the accommodation

Blåhammaren is located on the open mountain plateau in western Jämtland, at an altitude of 1,086 meters above sea level. The view is spectacular, with Helags and the Sylarna massif to the south and the Norwegian mountain range to the west. Here, you’ll find Sweden’s only inland lighthouse, and the cabin has a rich history. You can hike or ski to get here. Welcome!

Guests come to us from all directions. The classic hiking routes, the Jämtland Triangle and the Sylarna Loop, both pass through Blåhammaren. You can start your hike from Storulvån, Storerikvollen, Rundhögen, or Storlien.

Blåhammaren offers a self-catering kitchen, sauna, shower, shop, and drying room. The 100-year-old main building has plenty of social spaces. Here, you can enjoy your meal, recover after the day’s hike, play games, and socialize. The self-catering kitchen is equipped with a stove, refrigerator, running water, spices, and seasonings.

The sauna at Blåhammaren is famous for its magnificent view of the Norwegian mountains. After a long day in the mountains, you can enjoy a shower and a sauna session. The sauna is mixed, please bring your own towel and something to wear inside.

The shop offers a wide selection of dry goods, canned food, snacks, sweets, and drinks. The selection corresponds to the “Large” assortment available in mountain huts.

STF Blåhammaren is cashless. You can prepay for your stay, but on-site, you can only pay by card.

Travel information

STF Blåhammaren is located in roadless mountain terrain. To get here, you need to travel on foot or by skis, preferably from Storulvån. Below are directions to Storulvån Mountain Station.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Travel by train to Duved or Enafors. From there, connecting transfers are available with Wänseth Buss. Connecting transfers from the train station can also be booked via Topptaxi.

CAR
Follow the E14 towards Åre and turn off towards Duved. From the E14 in Enafors, follow the signs to Storulvån. Parking is available and electric car charging is possible.

Please note! Between 1 February and 15 April, the road between Handöl and Storulvån is closed at night between 22:00 and 08:00. The road may also close during daytime in poor weather conditions.

FLIGHTS
The nearest airports are Östersund/Åre Airport and Trondheim/Værnes Airport. From there, train connections are available to Åre or Enafors.
