Mountain Cabins
The beds are equipped with mattresses, pillows, and duvets. You must bring a travel sheet or a lightweight summer sleeping bag plus a pillowcase (it is mandatory to cover all bedding textiles).

The cabins are simple and functional, with no electricity. Heating is provided by wood-burning or gas stoves, and cooking is done on gas cookers. Candles are available. All guests help with tasks such as cooking, washing dishes, fetching water and firewood, and cleaning. All rubbish must be carried out, except for clean metal cans.

There are small provisions shops in Abiskojaure, Alesjaure, and Sälka. Here you can purchase dry goods, canned food, beverages, and sweets (no fresh products). The selection may be limited later in the season. Saunas are available at Abiskojaure, Alesjaure, and Sälka.

Please note: Emergency telephones are available in the cabins and are directly connected to the police.

Mobile Phone Coverage
Mobile phones generally do not work in the mountains.

Bring a power bank if you would like to charge your phone. There are no charging facilities in the mountain cabins.

Midnight Sun and Light Conditions
The Midnight Sun shines from approximately 15 May to 31 July, providing daylight around the clock. In August and September, you should bring a headlamp, as the nights become darker and there is a chance of seeing the Northern Lights.

Packing Tips
A well-packed backpack containing your personal equipment should weigh between 10–12 kg. Many people bring too many clothes; use your spare clothing wisely and change into a separate set that you do not hike in during the evenings. It is also possible to hand-wash individual garments in the cabins. Swedish pharmacies offer toiletries in travel-size packaging – choose the lightest options available.

Luggage Transfer
If you have luggage that you do not wish to carry during the hike, it can be shipped to Nikkaluokta for a small fee. Bring a small bag to pack it in and contact Fjällboden at STF Abisko Tourist Station to arrange the transfer.

Hydration and Water
Maintaining good hydration is important for your well-being during the trip and helps prevent injuries. In addition to a thermos, bring a water bottle and a cup. Crystal-clear running water is usually available along the trail. However, on the open mountain plateau, there can be long distances between streams, especially in late summer, so plan your water supply carefully.

Detailed Information
Registered participants will receive detailed information about schedules, guide details, and other important practical information approximately 2–3 weeks before the start of the tour.

About the area

Abisko is located in northern Lapland, around 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, and is one of Sweden’s most accessible alpine mountain areas. Abisko National Park offers a well-developed trail system with clearly marked routes, making the area suitable for both shorter trips and longer hikes.

The Kungsleden trail passes through the area, heading south between Lapporten (Čuonjavággi) and Mount Nuolja. To the north of Abisko lies Lake Torneträsk, one of Scandinavia’s largest mountain lakes, contributing to open views and a varied landscape.

The area is known for excellent conditions for seeing the northern lights in winter and the midnight sun in summer. Visitors can follow marked trails independently or join guided tours, and equipment rental is available if needed.

Booking conditions

You can cancel up to 30 days before arrival. After that, no refund will be issued. If the arrangement does not reach the minimum number of participants 30 days before it takes place, it may be cancelled.
