The Jämtland Triangle

The STF mountain stations Storulvån, Sylarna and Blåhammaren are the core of the Jämtland Triangle. This route has become a modern classic, attracting experienced old hands and fresh-faced newcomers.

It’s is possible to do the Jämtland Triangle with only a lightweight rucksack. The first day starts with a gentle climb towards the STF Sylarna mountain station, which awaits at the foot of the magnificent massiv. Many people choose to stay here for an extra day and take the opportunity to climb Syltoppen – a truly alpine experience.

The route continues from Sylarna towards Blåhammaren, and then onwards out into a rolling landscape. The final part of the stage to Blåhammaren is a steep uphill. STF Blåhammaren is our highest mountain station, and is famous for its good food and renowned kitchen.

The final stage of the Jämtland Triangle takes you back to Storulvån. And after a few kilometres, you meet a steep downhill stretch that takes you down to Ulvåtjärn. The final part passes mainly through birch forest, bringing you to Storulvån and the end of your journey through the mountain domain.

Reindeer husbandry is carried out throughout the region, and visitors must show respect for this.
