More about STF Kalix Malören Lodge
STF Kalix Malören Lodge is on an island in the outermost archipelago of the Gulf of Bothnia. The landscape is barren and dramatic. The entire island is a nature reserve that covers over 182 hectares. There are many cultural and historical sights to see, not least the fishing village originating in the early Middle Ages.
You will be staying in the lovely pilot’s cabin, which has seven double rooms and a suite. The accommodation is available 15 March – 15 April and 1 June – 31 August. All of our light and cosy rooms have beds with sprung mattresses, duvets and pillows. You just need to bring your own bed linen for the double rooms. (included in the suite)
You can prepare breakfast and cook your delicious meals in the fully equipped guest kitchen. Some simple but tasty meals such as quiches, portions of food and baguettes as well as drinks are available to purchase. You can also use our newly built outdoor kitchen. Here you can cook, eat and hang out. A place to land and recharge your batteries. There is an gas-fired barbecue and washing-up facilities.
This far out in the Gulf of Bothnia the electricity is only turned on at set times: 07:00–09:00, 11:30–13:30, 17:00–19:00 and 21:30–23:30 daily. It is only during these hours that you have the opportunity to use electricity for cooking and hot water for doing dishes. As there is limited access to hot water, we encourage our guests to wash themselves in the sauna, which can be booked in advance. What pleasure! Otherwise you will find a shower in the hallway.
For everyone’s comfort you need to clean up after yourself in the rooms, kitchen and sauna. It is possible to pay for cleaning at the end of your stay.
After a day’s excursion, it is nice to come back to the common room where you can play games, read or share your experiences with other guests. A wide range of nature experiences await you here. From the sandy beaches, meadows and rocks you have a sea view in all directions. The landscape is barren but very much alive, with lots of birds and wildflowers. You will see stones that have been polished smooth by the waves. Malören actually means “round stone”.
Hanna and Patrik wish you a warm welcome
