Looking for, and at, Northern Lights is best done on foot under open skies. Hiking around Abisko provides you with an opportunity to enjoy the scenery for as long as possible, giving you mindblowing memories.
Filled with expectancy, we get ready to experience a genuine mission: spotting the night's best Northern Lights. Using only hand-held oil lamps we go out into the dark polar night, stopping at places in the Abisko National Park that are known to give brilliant views of the lights.
During the hike you learn more about this heavenly phenomenon. The route taken, downstream along Abisko River through mountain birch forests to Torneträsk, is a classic one. Have your camera ready for sudden burts of coloured light dancing in the sky. We round off in front of a warm fire, exchanging views and discussing impressions of our nighttime adventure.
